Schwägalp is known as a mountain road, or lower pass road (1299m) connecting Nesslau-Neu St. Johann in Upper Toggenburg with Urnäsch in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. Schwägalp is also known as the valley station of the cable car to the summit of the 2502 meter high Säntis.
