The Schilthorn stands directly in front of the main ridge of the Bernese Alps and offers a magnificent summit panorama from the Eiger to Blüemlisalp.
The summit can be reached by 4 sections of a cable system from the valley floor in Stechelberg (910 m) or from the car free mountain resort Mürren.
(Stechelberg – Gimmelwald – Mürren – Birg – Schilthorn)
A number of scenes of the 1969 James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" were filmed in and around the summit restaurant. In the movie the place was called Piz Gloria. Today that's still a name being used for the Schilthorn. In the terminus bulding on the Schilthorn there is a permanent interactive exhibition 'Bond World 007', showing movie scenes and information about how the film was shot.
