The Kavachi is an active submarine volcano.
It is situated about 30 kilometres in the southeast of the Vangunu island.

The stamps were issued in the series "Volcanoes".
During the 1991 eruption an about 300x150 metres wide and 30 metres high island was formed. It contained a lava pound of about 50 metres in diameter. The island disappeared soon after.

The stamp was issued in the sheet "Volcanoes of Solomon Islands".
In the year 2002, as the Kavachi erupted, it formed again an about 15 metres high island, but the island disappeared soon after again. In November 2003, it was 32 metres below sealevel.
