The Mt. Makalu (in China known as Makaru) is the fifth highest mountain of the world. It is situated 22 km in the east of the Mount Everest on the border between Nepal and China. It belongs to the Mahalangur Himal.

First Ascent: 15.05.1955 by Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy (French).
