The old Gorkha Palace (Gorkha Durbar) is located at an elevation of about 1'500 metres, about eighteen kilometers from Kathmandu-Pokhara highway.
The palace stands on a mountain ridge overlooking the ancient capital. It was built by Ram Shah in 1600s. The views of the mountain ranges look splendid. The dominant view from Gorkha Palace is the Himalchuli massif of the Manaslu Himal, but the Annapurna Himal and Ganesh Himal are visible as well.
