Pasang Lhamu Sherpa was born in 1958 in Buwa (Surkey) Solu-Khumbu Nepal. She was the first Nepali woman to successfully summit Mt. Everest in 1993. She passed away during her expedition in the same year. This feat brought world-wide attention not only to herd self, but also to Nepali, and especially Sherpa women. Nepali government honoured her with the "Nepal Tara" Medal, and issued a stamp of her picture in 1994.
