Sarychat-Ertash State Nature Reserve was founded in 1995 and covers an area of 720 square kilometres. It is located in the upper reaches of Uch-Kel river on Sarychat-Ertash syrty, on the territory of Jeti-Oguz district of Issyk-Kul region. Its main objective is the protection of ecosystems of high-mountain tops and syrty of Inner Tien Shan. This reserve is one of the main habitats of the snow leopard, Pallas cat.
