The Burabay National Nature Park is situated in the north of the capital Astana. (Its name until 2000 was Borovoe). Within the park are situated 14 lakes, each of it has an area of about 1 square kilometre. The largest of them are the Bolshoye Chebachye, Maloye Chebachye, Shchuchye and Borovoye. The park offers picturesque beauty and a rare harmonic combination of mystic mountains, forests, lakes, flora and fauna. The highest peak is called Kokshetau (blue Mountain) at 961 metres.
