The Tsukuba-san is situated near Tsukuba city in the Ibaraki Prefecture. The two summits are known as Nyotai-san (877 m) and Nantai-san or Dantai-san (871 m).

It is one of the 100 famous Japanese mountains.

The illustration shows a Japanese postage stamp issued 1923 "Crown Prince Hirohito's visit to Taiwan". It shows the highest mountain of Taiwan, known as Yu Shan (3'952 m). Between 1895 and 1945 Taiwan was a dependency of the Empire of Japan. During this time the Yu-Shan was known as Mt. Niitaka.
