The Tate-yama at 3'015 m is a mountain range in the Toyama Prefecture running from north to south. It belongs to the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps) in the Japanese Alps within the Chubu-Sangaku National Park.

The range has three summits kown as Oonanji-yama (3'015 m), Oyama (3'003 m) and Fuji-no-oritate (2'999 m). On the top of the Oyama peak there is situated a shrine known as Oyama Shrine.

The Tate-yama is one of the 100 famous Japanese mountains and along with Mt. Fuji, Haku-san one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" known as Sanreizan.

 Yatsuo-machi was a town located in Nei District (Toyama Prefecture). On April 2005, Yatsuo-machi, along with the towns of Ōsawano, Ōyama and other villages were merged into the city of Toyama.

The Tateyama Murododaira at 2'450 metres is a leading heavy snowfall area and has a snow coverage of about 8 metres. The section of the wall of about 500-m length, where the road gets prepared for the traffic, is called "snowy Otani".
