Munakata Taisha is the name of a group of three Shinto shrines, located on three separate islands (Hetsu-gū on Kyushu, Nakatsu-gū on Oshima and Okitsu-gū on Okinoshima). They are known as the head of the approximately 6'000 Munakata shrines all over Japan. Depicted is the shrine on Kyushu, located in the city Munakata.
The stamp was issued in the series "60th Anniversary Series of the Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Fukuoka Prefecture".
