The Myogi-san is situated in the Gunma Prefecture within the Myogi Arafune-Saku Kogen Quasi Nationalpark.
It is an extinct volcano, whose caldera collapsed long time ago. Its vertical cliffs and rock pillars are a famous spot for climbers. The Myogi-san is divided into two major summits known as Kondou (the highest) and Haku-Un. It is along with Mount Akagi and Mount Haruna one of the "Three Mountains of Jōmō" (Jōmō is an old name for Gunma).
