The Kurobe-Gorge is known as the deepest gorge in Japan. It is situated in the east of the Tate-yama within the Hida Mountains and the Chubu-Sangaku National Park.

The stamp was issued in the sheet
"60th anniversary series of Local Government Law Toyama Prefecture".

At the southern end of the Kurobe Gorge is the Kurobe Dam, with its 189 metres in height it is known as one of the largest arch-type dome dam in the world.
