The Kuju-san is a volcanic group of peaks and situated in the northeast of the Aso-san within the Aso-Kuju Nationalpark. Its main peak is the Naka-dake of Kuju (1'791 m), other summits are the Mt. Kuji (1'787 m), Mount Taisen (1'786 m), Mt. Inahoshi (1'774 m), Mt. Hossho (1'762 m), Mt. Mimata-yama (1'744.7 m), Mt. Kita (1'706 m) and the Mount Heiji (1,642 m). The Kuju-san is one of the 100 famous Japanese mountains.
