The Hiuchigatake at 2'356 metres is of volcanic origin and known as the highest mountain in the Tohuku region. It is situated within the Oze Nationalpark and one of the 100 famous Japanese mountains. The Hiuchigatake consists of five peaks known as Shibayasugura, Manaitagura, Minobuchi-dake, Akanagure-dake and Miike-dake.
