Hachijo-jima is a small volcanic island (administered by Tokyo) and situated in the Pacific Ocean.
The volcano Nishiyama (means the west mountain and also called Mount Hachijō-Fuji) has an elevation of 854 m. while the volcano Higashiyama (means the east mountain and also called Mount Miharayama) is 701 m high.
Hachijo-jima is the southernmost of the Izu Seven Islands and within the boundaries of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
