The Akita Komagatake is a 1'637 m high active volcano in the eastern part of the Akita prefecture. It is part of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park. It is the highest mountain within the Akita Prefecture and has several peaks. The highest of them is Onamedake. The second highest is Odake. Its last eruption was in the year 1971.
