The Mt. Damāvand is a potentially active volvano and the highest peak of Iran. It is located in the central Alborz Range, 66 kilometres in the northeast of Teheran. 

The Mt. Damāvand is one of the Volcanic Seven Summits.

Reza Schah Pahlavi, Shah of Iran (Persia) from 15 December 1925 until he was forced to abdicate by the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran on 16 September 1941.

During the emission of the ceremony in the year 2004 somebody noticed that the Venezuelan stamp with the Iranian image of the mountain Damavand has a wrong inscription "República islámica de Iran", instead "República Bolivariana de Venezuela". In consequence, the Venezuelan stamps were not put on circulation on 16th November 2004. Then the stamps corresponding to the Mountain Damavand were overprinted (see picture below) and put on sale on 16th October 2006. However, some first day cancelled stamps on a folder and also some mint not overprinted stamps are existing.

The stamps design above (horizontaly and verticaly format) is one of a series of different stamp designs, which where available from few categories: fauna, flora, UNESCO World Heritage sites, other landmarks, religious sites, etc.

The stamps could be ordered at that time on the website of the Iranian Post (in Farsi language) for ordering them by domestic customers only. Costumers could choose one of the stamp designs and upload an own picture to use as the label. The image of the postage stamp could not be changed by the costumers. The stamps were available in sheets of 16 stamps and 16 labels.

Michel calatogue is listing 37 different horizontaly stamp design und 67 verticaly stamp design (Michel 3023 - 3024).
