The Sierra de Bahoruco stretches from the southwestern corner of the Dominican Republic into Haiti, where the range is known as Montagnes de la Selle. The Parque Nacional Sierra de Baoroco was created in the year 1983 and covers an area of 1'124 square kilometres. The park includes a huge forest full of Española pine trees, broad-leaf and rain forests, which reach from a 100 meters to the towering height of Loma del Toro at 2'367 meters.
