The two volcanoes Parinacota (6'384 m) and Pomerape (6'222 m) form the Nevados de Payachata complex. The two potencially active volcanoes are located in the north of Lake Chungará and mark the Chilean-Bolivian borderline.

First ascents:
Parincota: 1928 by Joseph Prem (Austrian) and Carlos Terán (Bolivian).
Pomerape: 1946 by Edmundo García and René Zalles (Bolivian).
