The Banff Nationalpark was established in the year 1885. The park covers an area of 6'641 square kilometres and is situated about 100 kilometres in the west of Calgary.

The Moraine Lake is situated near the village Lake Louise. The valley is also known as the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The lake is at an elevation of 1'885 m. The Ten peaks are known as: Deltaform Mountain (3'424 m), Mount Allen (3'310 m), Mount Tuzo (3'246 m), Neptuak Mountain (3'233 m), Mount Fay (3'235 m), Wenkchemna Peak (3'170 m), Mount Little (3'088 m), Mount Bowlen (3'072 m), Mount Tonsa (3'054 m) and Mount Perren (3'051 m).

The person is on the bump just before the Sickle on Mount Victoria South-ridge. The main summit (South peak 3'464 m) of Mt. Victoria is on the upper left and Collier Peak is the 1st one to the right. The North peak is out of sight at that point. The original panoramic photo (besides this cropped version), which includes Lake Louise, is depicted on the miniaturesheet (please see below).
