The Musala Peak at 2'925 metres is the highest mountain of the Rila Mountains and also the highest summit on the Balkan Peninsula. The second and third highest summits on the Balkan Peninsula are the Mt. Olympus (2'917 m) in Greece and the Vihren Peak (2'914 m) in the Pirin Mountains.
