The Monumento Natural Bosques Petrificados, also known as Bosque Petrificado de Jaramillo is located about 150 kilometres in the west of Puerto Deseado, in Santa Cruz Province. The area is famous for remnants of a forest preserved in stone. Many sections of trunk are preserved and some being 2 m in diameter and others as long as 30 metres. The surrounding area is a bizzare moonscape, dominated by the 400 metres high Cerro Madre e Hija.
