The Lago Puelo Nationalpark is located about 15 kilometres in the south of El Bolsón in the north-western most tip of the Chubut Province. Until 1971 the Lago Puelo Nationalpark was part of the Los Alerces National Park in the south. The park has an area of 276.74 square kilometres and at its centre there is the deep turquoise-coloured Lago Puelo.

The green mountain in the foreground is the Cerro Cubridor (1'306 m). The Cerro Tres Picos (2'492 m) is in the center (right of Cubridor). Other summits of the ridge are known as Pico de Abuelo, Torre Tuma (2'313 m), Torre Meiling (2'455 m), Cerro Acaso (2'395 m) and Cerro Anexo (2'498 m).
