During the time of the Spanish Empire several huts were built along the Inca road (today Ruta 7), known as "Casuchas de la Cordillera".
From Mendoza in Argentina towards Santiago de Chile in Chile where built several Casuchas: Punta de Vacas, Puquíos, Paramillos, Las Cuevas and La Cumbre in Argentina; Las Calaveras, Juncalillo and Ojos de Agua in Chile.
Today only the Casuchas of Puquíos, Paramillos and Las Cuevas in Argentina are still existing. They are listed as "Monumento Histórico Nacional".
