The mountainous Anvers Island is 61 kilometres long and the largest island of the Almer Archipelago. It is seperated by the Neumayer Channel from the Wiencke Island in the south-west. On the island is located the Palmer station (operated by the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The highest summit on the island is the Mt. Français at 2'761 m. Other notable peaks are the Mt. William (1'600 m), Mt. Moberli (1'533 m) and the Copper Peak (1'125 m).
